Minor Repair Instructions:
If you find a loose thread...
-
A severed thread: Secure the thread by knotting the severed ends together or by sewing both ends into place.
-
A "looped" loose thread: Do not cut the thread.
-
1) Using a pin or needle, lightly tug on the thread at the next instance that it appears in the weave until the loop is pulled back into place, being careful not to pull it too tight.
-
2) Repeat at the next instance the thread appears in the weave, until the thread has been fully pulled back into the woven material. The loop should get smaller each time and eventually disappear.
-
To find the next instance of the thread in the weave, find the end of the loop where it disappears into the weave. Follow the thread to find the next time that it appears on top of the other threads. Slip your needle under this thread and lightly pull it away from the material - if it is the correct thread, it should not resist and the loop will visibly start to disappear.
-
Be careful not to catch the needle on any other threads in the weave before you pull.
-
Do not continue pulling on thread if met with resistance or you may create another loop.

Hide/Leather Material Care
Washing Instructions:
Do not submerge hide/leather products in water.
Avoid cleaning with water when possible; if water must be used, spot clean your product using a mild, unscented soap and a rag dampened with room temperature to lukewarm water. Ring rag of excess water prior to using.
If electing to use a leather cleaner, ensure that the leather cleaner is appropriate for soft hide and/or suede as applicable. See below for more information on leather conditioning and other leather protection products.

-
If the thread has been damaged: Secure the thread by by sewing both ends of the thread into place, either by hand or with a sewing machine.
-
If you are unsure whether the severed thread is a tail thread or the result of damage, please do not hesitate to reach out to anna@birdsnestwoventextiles.ca before attempting to repair.
-
A "looped" loose thread: Do not cut the thread.
-
1) Using a pin or needle, lightly tug on the thread by slipping the pin/needle under the thread and pulling away from the material at the next stitch until the loop is pulled back into place, being careful not to catch the needle on the fabric or other stitches or to pull it too tight.
-
2) Repeat at the next stitch until the thread has been fully pulled back into the woven material. The loop should get smaller each time and eventually disappear.
-
Do not continue pulling on thread if met with resistance.
